New Media Marketing Communications Specialist
Do you love the web, interacting with different people, groups, and organizations? Pop Labs is looking for a driven, results-oriented individual with an understanding of interactive marketing to join our team as a Social Media and Marketing Communications Specialist. This position will work directly with the President and Director of Creative Services in planning and executing media and social and traditional media strategies (including but not limited to: blogs, video blogs, podcasts, community and social networking sites) that enhance awareness and acceptance of Pop Labs brands/products both offline and online.
A good understanding of the web is essential, and the ideal candidate will be an excellent written and verbal communicator with the ability to effectively explain corporate mission and the biographies of key employees. The applicant must be dependable, detail-oriented, high-energy, an out-of-the-box thinker and willing to work hard with minimal supervision. The desired background experience includes an interest or involvement in marketing/events, experience in public relations, customer service, marketing and administrative work.
A top candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Responsible for managing Pop Labs Social Media newsroom and other components of Pop Labs website and online properties, primarily toward the media and secondarily to industry, and employees.
- Prepares and disseminates information regarding the organization through newspapers, periodicals, television and radio and other forms of online and offline media.
- Manages media relations, announcements, editorial placement, and speaking opportunities.
- Participate in creation of thought leadership materials, white papers, contributed articles, etc.
- Manage trade show and speaking engagement schedules.
- Plan and manage corporate blogging schedule.
- Plan and manage corporate seminar and webinar schedules.
- Work with multiple sources of data and use analytics tools to measure and report results of marketing campaigns and identify new opportunities to grow the business.
Candidates should have the following experience:
- A college degree or equivalent real world project management or marketing experience
- Solid project management skills - on time, on budget.
- Proven online communications and integrated marketing experience - ability to develop and execute effective online communications strategies.
- Understands and maximizes opportunities to meet business objectives using web-based technologies.
- Comprehensive understanding of social media/new media.
- Direct experience with a leading blog, adept at directing market conversations in social media.
- Knowledge of social media tools, including Technorati, social bookmarking, tagging, dynamics of XML and blog publishing.
- Proven ability to work with PR and or marketing agencies.
- Knowledge of technology a must, Search Engine Marketing and Paid Ad industry would be an added advantage.
- Prior agency experience would be an added advantage.
- Experience in digital reputation management is a plus, as is experience with industry-standard online monitoring platforms.
- Experience with social media (blogs, communities, etc.) a plus.
- Should first be familiar with the tools of communication, from forums, to blogs, to podcasts, to twitter, and understand the language and jargon that is used in these forums.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work as part of a team, share idea and accept constructive reviews.
- Must be goal-oriented and exhibit a high level of professionalism.
